Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct applies to all members of the SJSC, including committee members, coaches’ players, support staff and spectators.

As a financial and committed member of the SJSC, we ask you to abide by the following guidelines to ensure we set a humble example for the juniors’ members of our club, the committee members of the BHSA, officials and other soccer clubs of the BHSA.

Nevertheless, if you are experiencing negative behaviour from another person, other club members or an official, please seek our committee members for advice or assistance as you will have our full support during the soccer season.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding Children

St Joseph’s Soccer Club as our commitment to Safeguarding Children will:

  • Respect the rights of children, young people & vulnerable adults.

  • Respond to and report any concerns we have about the safety of children & young people.

  • Ensure all our committee members, coaches & volunteers maintain their Working With Children Checks (WWCC current in NSW)

We will also ensure all our committee members, coaches & volunteers understand the Child Safeguarding Policy from our governing body.

Social Media

Social Media offers our club the opportunity for all our members, coaches and players to gather online to share news and information about our club. When participating in social media team members should:

  • Use common sense and respect others in posts and discussions;

  • Exercise care and discretion with their use of online communication;

  • Do not disclose other people’s personal information or images without their permission;

  • Adopt the simple practice of re-reading and thinking about what may be posted before doing so.

Player Requirements

Please understand that as a commitment to the club as a financial member, you are bound by our club code of conduct, the Broken Hill Soccer Association (BHSA) rules, and the Football Federation Australia (FFA) guidelines, while at the grounds and during the game, even if you are dismissed with a red card. You are a direct representation of our club and we ask you to behave accordingly. Failure to do so will bring disciplinary action from the club committee board.

We ask all members of the SJSC to;

  • Play by the rules, the rules of your club and the laws of the game.

  • Attend training sessions and games at the time advised by coaches. If unavailable, please inform your coach asap.

  • Act respectfully towards the officials, team members and those of opposing clubs

  • Respect the BHSA facilities, your own club equipment and that of opposing clubs.

  • Do not make or use remarks based on race, religion, gender or ability as such comments are politically incorrect and disrespectful.

  • Do not use social media to publicly post inappropriate comments against players, clubs, club officials, match officials or the league, which is discriminatory or offensive.

  • Assist your coach with the setup and pack down of each training session and game day, where possible.

  • All rubbish is to be placed in the bins

  • All balls to be brought in from training or game days.

  • All drink bottles are to be returned to the racks, not thrown on the ground.

  • No swearing.

Player’s Equipment

Each financial member of the SJSC must wear Navy Blue Shorts (with no pockets), Sky Blue Soccer socks, wear shin guards, and play in a pair of football boots.

The SJSC will supply all players with a shirt, including a goalkeeper shirt.

Players are allowed to wear protective head and eye gear if needed & all jewellery should be removed prior to playing.
